For example, we support a training center for environmental and agricultural education in Phnom Penh as well as a pilot scale composting facility. To support a sustainable and long-lasting political and economical development we also participate in research projects for the consolidation of the democracy in Cambodia.
We are supported by the Thuringian Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Conservancy and Environment, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt as well as privately commited Thuringian citizens.
With out projects we hope to provide a solid basis for self-sustained help to give the Cambodian children a chance to live a life beyond rice fields.
For a better planning and realisation of our projects, we founded the local NGO COMPED. Three Cambodian employees, who where trained and qualified in Germany, are taking care of the projects in Cambodia.
COMPED and TKG are connected by a long-standing cooperation and friendship. Every TKG-project is carried out by this NGO with which we currently realise several projects all over the country.
Our motto: "Helping People Help Themselves"
The "Thüringisch-Kambodschanische Gesellschaft e.V. - Thuringian-Cambodian Association (TKG)" was founded in May 2000. Today, over 100 German and 15 Cambodian members can be counted. The society aims to develop and expand the mutual understanding of the respective peoples. The support of the people in Cambodia hereby is a matter of the heart.
Following a capacity-building principle considering the local living conditions, we aim to facilitate personal development of the people in Cambodia by realising projects regarding school education, environment, agriculture as well as media. The cooperation takes place on a scientific, cultural and solidary level.
